Abstract Description : How do we recognize and respond to student mental health needs when we’re not in the same room? As digital and hybrid learning environments expand, educators must be equipped to identify warning signs of mental health challenges: subtle cues in behavior, attendance, engagement, or even chat messages. This session offers practical, research-informed strategies for evaluating student well-being remotely and responding with empathy, resources, and action. Attendees will learn how to build digital trust, collaborate with families, and implement virtual protocols for crisis response. Whether you’re a teacher, counselor, or administrator, you’ll leave with tools to support students from wherever you are.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to identify early warning signs of mental health challenges in virtual learning environments, including behavioral, academic, and digital communication indicators.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to apply effective protocols and response strategies for supporting students in mental health crisis remotely, including referral pathways, family communication, and emergency response planning.
