Abstract Description : As virtual and blended learning environments become more prevalent, educators face new challenges in meeting the needs of trauma-affected students. These students often carry experiences that can significantly impact their ability to engage, regulate, and succeed in all settings. This presentation will explore how trauma manifests in all settings, including online and blended classrooms, and provide educators, administrators, and staff with practical, research-informed strategies for creating trauma-sensitive virtual learning environments.
Participants will learn how to identify signs of trauma, build safety and trust online, and implement structures that promote emotional regulation, connection, and academic engagement. The session will also highlight the importance of cultural responsiveness, relationship-building, and collaboration with families and support teams. Whether you’re new to trauma-informed education or refining your approach, this session will equip you with tools to foster resilience and success for all learners—no matter the setting.
