John Ashworth is the Executive Director and Superintendent of Virtual Arkansas, one of the nation’s leading online learning organizations. He holds a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in School Leadership from the University of Central Arkansas, as well as an Ed.S. in District Leadership from Arkansas State University. With over 25 years in education, he began as a secondary science teacher before serving as principal in two Arkansas districts, where he promoted innovation and excellence. After launching an online learning program, he joined Virtual Arkansas in 2015 as Director of Academics. Since 2018, he has led as Executive Director, expanding access to high-quality digital learning. He also formerly served as President of the Virtual Learning Leadership Alliance (VLLA).
