Assistant Principal 27J Online Academy Brighton, Colorado, United States
Abstract Description : The 27J Online Academy, in short order, created an intervention/credit recovery program that is showing a 95% pass rate by our students. This program serves our district expelled students, administrative transfer students due to safety/health/family need, and a plethora of other individual situations. We accomplished this by hiring "Kid Chasers." Our philosophy is based on the work of Sugata Mitra and his "Hole in the wall" TED Talk. We did not need content experts in the role of teacher (we call them Success Coaches), we needed relentless chasing. The bulk of our presentation will be about our Success Coaches, the "Kid Chasers", and the process to identify who they are.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will have a more clear profile of the most successful online interventionists.
At the end of this session, participants will have a beginning blueprint for a successful expelled/credit recovery online program.
